Renouf traveled to the United States exhibiting at the National Academy of Design in 1888. In 1891, back in France, he exhibited a similar painting to this titled "La Pont de Brooklyn" at the Paris Salon. That painting was acquired by the State and was illustrated in "Le Salon de 1891" Goupil & Cie., Page 24

In 1888 the New York Times wrote a long favorable review Renouf's painting of The Brooklyn Bridge. This was presumably the painting exhibited at the Salon.
