This sculpture was originally modeled in 1912 for the Swedish Fifth Olympic Games. The design was accepted by the Olympic committee and the original 46 inch bronze was installed at the entrance to the stadium in Stockholm. In 1914 the King of Sweden honored McKenzie for his work in athletic sculpture. At that time the 18 inch reduction of the model was created . |
