Post Road Gallery A dramatic night-time ship portrait of "The City of Paris". In October of 1892 with 738 passengers aboard, "The City of Paris" set a trans-Atlantic marine speed record by crossing from Queenstown to New York in 5 days, 14 hours and 24 minutes. She was the pride of the Inman line and was in competition at the time with the White Star Line's "Teutonic". The New York Times account of the competition can be read on their website. |
