Harry Best was a self taught artist who settled in Yosemite around 1900. He set up a studio near the base of Bridal Veil Falls and sold painting of there area from that location. Theodore Roosevelt saw is work at and exhibiton in Washington D. C. and purchased his painting of Mt. Shasta which he hung in the White house. Best's daughter, Virginia, married the photographer Ansel Adams. When Harry Best died the couple moved into Best's studio and set it up as the Ansel Adams Gallery. |
